Our Computing Curriculum

At Telford Junior School, our Computing curriculum is designed to empower all pupils with the knowledge, skills, and creativity to thrive in an increasingly digital world. We aim to provide a balanced and inclusive education that nurtures curiosity, critical thinking, and collaboration, while fostering an understanding of the ethical and safe use of technology.

Our Vision

We strive to equip our pupils with:

  1. Digital Literacy: The ability to use and understand technology effectively and responsibly in daily life.
  2. Computational Thinking: Problem-solving skills that can be applied to design, code, and debug solutions across various contexts.
  3. Creativity and Innovation: Encouragement to explore, create, and express themselves using a variety of digital tools and platforms.
Curriculum Aims

Through our computing curriculum, we aim to:

  • Teach children to be safe, respectful, and responsible digital citizens, understanding how to protect themselves and others in an online environment.
  • Provide opportunities to develop practical computing skills such as coding, multimedia design, and data analysis, ensuring pupils can confidently use technology for both learning and leisure.
  • Develop a strong foundation in computer science principles, including algorithms, programming, and systems.
  • Foster curiosity by exploring real-world applications of technology, including its role in careers, innovation, and society.
Inclusivity and Accessibility

We are committed to ensuring every child, regardless of ability or background, can access the computing curriculum. Lessons are differentiated to challenge all learners, with additional support and opportunities for those who may require it.

Curriculum Impact

By the end of their junior school journey, pupils will leave us as confident, creative, and conscientious digital citizens ready to engage with future technologies. They will have the resilience to tackle challenges and the collaborative skills to thrive in a connected world.

This computing curriculum will inspire a lifelong passion for learning and innovation, ensuring pupils can confidently navigate and shape the digital landscape of the future.
