Physical Education
Our Physical Education Curriculum
Our Physical Education (PE) Curriculum is designed to inspire and empower all pupils to lead active, healthy lives. Through engaging, high-quality PE lessons and a diverse range of extra-curricular activities, we aim to promote healthy lifestyles, develop essential physical skills and encourage personal growth. Our curriculum fosters confidence, resilience and a growth mindset, while instilling a lifelong passion for sport. We are committed to inclusivity, ensuring every pupil, regardless of ability or background, feels valued and supported in their physical education journey.
PE lessons are carefully planned and sequenced, ensuring progression and depth across different areas of Physical Education. From Year 3 to Year 6, pupils engage in a wide range of sports and activities, allowing them to develop their knowledge and skills in diverse physical areas.
We actively encourage pupils to participate in competitive sport. On joining the school, each pupil is assigned to a ‘House,’ and every term, pupils participate in competitive inter-school events.
Swimming
Children undertake swimming lessons in Year 3 and 4, as part of their PE curriculum. We ask for a parental contribution towards the cost of these lessons and transportation. We aim for all children to swim competently over a distance of at least 25 metres, looking to develop the strokes of more proficient swimmers. Swimming also provides an additional opportunity for physical activity during the school week, benefiting all children regardless of their skill level.
The school is very proud of having achieved the School Games Platinum Award.
