Our History Curriculum
We believe that history is a gateway to understanding our world and our place within it. Our aim is to develop a lifelong love of history, by inspiring curiosity and excitement about the past. Through immersive and engaging lessons, we provide children with captivating hooks and rich resources, that ignite their imagination and invite them to explore diverse perspectives and experiences.
We equip our children to ask perceptive questions, think critically, and weigh evidence to deepen their understanding. They learn to sift through arguments, reflect on historical narratives, and develop their own informed judgments. By studying history, children gain not only a chronological understanding of events, but also a deeper awareness of how the past shapes our present and future.
Our curriculum is designed to make history relevant to children’s lives, encouraging them to see connections between historical events and their own experiences. Through the exploration of stories, artifacts, and first-hand accounts, children develop empathy, fostering an understanding of the challenges, achievements, and resilience of people across time.
We encourage children to engage actively in their learning, using a range of resources to maintain interest and excitement, from drama and role-play to historical visits and primary sources. By exploring the richness and diversity of human history, children develop a broader perspective of the world, cultivating respect for different cultures and identities.
Ultimately, our History curriculum empowers children to reflect on the past, equipping them with the skills to understand and navigate the complexities of the world today. By nurturing a passion for discovery and critical thinking, we aim to inspire children to carry forward their love of history into their future learning and lives.
